UP Flood: Flood threat, Nepal released 5 lakh cusecs of water | Saryu river in spateUP Flood alertSo far, we have been discussing the situation in Delhi, particularly the devastating impact caused by the rising water levels of the Yamuna River due to continuous rainfall and the release of water from Hathnikund Barrage. And now, following the recent flood threat in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh (UP) is facing a similar situation. The Saryu river has surged due to the release of five lakh cusecs of water from Nepal over the span of two consecutive days. While the water level of Saryu has been fluctuating due to normal rainfall, the additional water induction from outside sources is expected to cause a major disruption. Currently, the water level is rising rapidly, with it being 1.35 meters below the critical 69.90-meter mark at Gaurishankar Ghat. Consequently, the potential for flooding has now become a looming concern due to the rising water levels.
